The ancient technique of encaustic is an exciting tool when used to expand one’s visual vocabulary. In this workshop geared especially for textile and fiber artists, you will learn how easy it is to transfer images onto a number of surfaces, as well as metal leafing, collage working with line and edge, and mixed-media techniques. For example, we work on a segment entitled Away With Words. For those of you who journal, are inspired by words, text, letters, typography, we will explore the many ways to employ text in your work.
Safety procedures and setting up your studio will be addressed, as well as a presentation on Encaustic with a Textile Sensibility. This versatile, durable and translucent medium creates amazing layers, textures and surfaces beyond your wildest dreams! |
